Heads up, hunters!
According to the MI Dept. of Natural Resources: "Beginning this year, deer hunters are required to report a successful harvest within 72 hours or before transferring possession of the deer (to another person, a processer or taxidermist)."
And as the public notice, from Rep. Mary Whiteford of District 80, explains, "Failure to comply ... can result in a misdemeanor."
Rep. Michele Hoitenga, of the 102nd, has sponsored legislation to eliminate the criminal penalties. Ask your rep if he or she supports Rep. Hoitenga's bill and will take a stand against this example of government overreach.
